Types of Malignant mesothelioma

Malignant mesothelioma a rare Occupations disease and is one of the rarest cancer that occurs in the thin layer of tissue that covers the majority of your internal organs called mesothelium.

Doctors divide mesothelioma into different types based on what part of the mesothelium is affected, which are :
  • Pleural malignant mesothelioma: It affects the tissue that surrounds the lungs and is the most common form of mesothelioma.
  • Peritoneal mesothelioma:It occurs in the tissue in and around ones abdomen.
  • Pericardial mesothelioma: It affects the tissue that surround the heart.
  • Mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis: It affects the lining in and around the testicles.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 people are diagnosed with mesothelioma in the United States each year, according to the American Cancer Society and is prominant among those who work in the asbestos industry and their respective families.
